Cathedral Quarter members Fitzgerald Jewellers are embarking on a 40km walk and sleep out in aid of local homelessness charity Porchlight on Wednesday 4th September.
Porchlight help people who have nowhere to go and no-one to turn to. Some are homeless, others are struggling to cope with the pressures in their lives and need our support to keep on track. Working across Kent and the South East, Porchlight help vulnerable and isolated people get support with their mental health, housing, education and employment. Porchlight provide children, young people and adults with the advice, guidance and skills to live independently in the future, play an active role in their local community and fulfil their potential.
Business owner, Trevor Fitzgerald (pictured above) will have spent 40 years in the Jewellery industry this year. To celebrate this outstanding achievement, they will be walking 1km for every year he has spent in the trade.
By taking part in a sleep out, it provides a valuable insight into what it's like for people who have no choice but to sleep rough every night of the week.
